The same section continues: "Any and all content hosted by Webhosting1st is under the responsibility of the customer to maintain a proper backup of all data and content of their website. It's not the responsibility of Webhosting1st to maintain any backups of data and content."
In plain language: the homepage advertises daily backups, but the legal text commits to weekly backups at best — with no guarantee. If your data is lost and no backup exists, Webhosting1st is not legally responsible.
This kind of gap between marketing copy and legal text is not unusual among budget hosts. What matters is that you know about it before signing up. Always keep your own independent backup of website files and database, regardless of what your host advertises.
Uptime and server performance
Webhosting1st backs its 99.9% uptime claim with a credit-based SLA. If uptime falls below that threshold in a given month, the company applies a credit to your account — 10% credit for 99% uptime, scaling to 100% credit if uptime drops to 90% or below. These are account credits, not cash refunds. Planned maintenance periods are excluded.
User-reported uptime is one of the clearest positives in the review record. Multiple reviewers noted no downtime over months of use. One customer, writing after three months with the service, said: "I didn't experience any downtimes yet, my blog is running fast." There is no phone support. Live chat is advertised on the site, but Website Planet's reviewer — who tested it directly — reported that they "failed to receive any response via the live chat channel."
A self-service knowledge base covers roughly 35 common hosting tasks. For typical questions like setting up WordPress or activating an SSL certificate, these tutorials are likely sufficient. For anything more complex, the ticket system is the only route, and the company does not specify a response time guarantee.
Reviewer opinions on support quality cover the full range. On the positive side: "Support is rock solid, especially on the technical side of things. Support has walked me through the free migration and setup process a couple of times already." The 2011 and 2018 dates cannot both be accurate. DNS records analyzed by WHTop show that all name servers and mail records for webhosting1st.com point to IP addresses associated with OVH SAS infrastructure in Wrocław, Poland. The company may colocate its own hardware at an OVH facility, which is consistent with "own servers" — but this relationship is not made transparent anywhere on their website.
ScamAdviser's automated analysis flagged two concerns: the owner's identity is hidden in WHOIS records, and there are no reviews on major review platforms. ScamAdviser rated the site as safe overall, but both flags are notable for a company that has been operating for several years.
