We also noticed a gap between the prices on SvenHost's marketing pages and the prices on the order form itself. The shared cPanel hosting order page lists the entry-level "Personal" plan at $3.50 per month on monthly billing, while the marketing page advertises a lower starting rate. This kind of gap usually comes down to billing term: a longer commitment unlocks a lower monthly rate, while month-to-month billing costs more. The site doesn't spell this out clearly, so check the order page before you assume the homepage price is what you'll pay.

The reseller "free domain" fine print

Reseller plans advertise a free domain as part of the deal, but the details differ by tier. The entry-level Silver plan includes free domain registration, with a footnote stating that "domain renewal charges applicable from next year." The higher Gold and Platinum plans instead promise a free domain "for lifetime," with their own footnote saying the hosting package must stay active to keep that perk.

In practice, "free" mostly means free for the first year, with conditions attached after that - either a renewal fee (Silver) or an active hosting subscription (Gold and Platinum).

Free backups, with one catch

Shared hosting, reseller hosting, and the cPanel VPS plans all include free automated backups. Plenty of hosts charge extra for this, so it's a genuine plus if it works as described.
